The Upper Clapton Road development forms a part of a regeneration program in Clapton providing a high quality environment that encourages family living as well as retaining the commercial uses of the existing buildings.

The council granted planning permission for the mixed-use redevelopment of this site in November 2013, following a detailed consultation process. Our intention is to take forward the key principles that were established as part of this planning permission, whilst looking at ways to improve on the approved scheme.
An in-depth understanding of the area of Clapton and engagement with the local community have helped lead the way to a scheme that is sympathetic to the character of the area and offering real community benefits.

The new proposals for 38-40 Upper Clapton Road look to maximise shared and public spaces, positioning and orientating buildings to optimise south facing spaces.
A new pedestrianised street will connect Upper Clapton Road to Casimir Road forming a strong relationship with the commercial spaces.

By relocating car parking to the basement level, better use can also be made of the ground floor level and street frontage.

In line with the needs of the area, it is proposed that a higher proportion of family-size units are provided, with more 3 and 4 bed units and less 1 and 2 bed units.
