The building occupies a long and narrow site, which is used to its advantage for a series of different atmospheres from urban environment to intimate domesticity.

After the gallery relocated to a purpose-built new space in 2005, SUSD has acquired the property and is currently investigating opportunities for redevelopment for affordable housing. As Harry is an Eastbourner by birth, this project is close to his heart.

The design includes a community space and church hall on the ground floor with residential accommodation on the first floor and to the rear, all contained within the existing envelope. The project is currently at the detailed design stage with completion scheduled for 2011.
